These islands are characterized by their virgin nature and fascinating beauty. As an important national and regional conservation area, it is rich with its natural diversity and considered to be an important international and regional nesting center for migratory and endemic birds, where high densities of seabirds nest. These islands are the only known site of nesting Ospreys in the area. They are also characterized by many coral species and diversity of reef fish. Large numbers of hawksbill turtles visit these islands to nest and lay eggs, adding to its international significance as they provide shelter to these severely endangered species. Green turtles also visit the islands in summer to nest.
To support ecotourism in Oman by allowing visits to the reserve, to swim in its water and dive to watch the coral reefs, ornamental fish, starfish, seahorse and other marine life that characterize the reserve. Camping for the night allowed on the reserve beaches all year around with the exception of the period from 1st of May to the end of October during the period of birds nesting to avoid disturbance. Work now underway by the Ministry to establish a visitor center with all services required by the visitor in the islands.
